Goals

    The following bylaws, as amended and revised, have been enacted in order to establish and define the overall goals of this unit, in addition to the total requirements of both present members and future applicants.



Section I
Unit Goals


1.    The Desert Search Unit (DSU) has been formed for the specific purpose of aiding the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office(MCSO) in search and rescue operations within the confines of Maricopa County.

2.    This unit will also respond, whenever possible, to emergency requests within the State of Arizona at the request of and the expressed approval of the MCSO.

3.    This unit will initiate and implement educational programs directed towards groups and individuals interested in desert survival techniques.

4.    The unit may raise funds to support the unit by providing law enforcement security as approved by MCSO.

5.    This Unit will at all times be considered a working service organization, directing its efforts towards those items listed in numbers one through four above. At no time will this unit be recognized or identified as a club or social entity.
